Sports Clubs & Teams

Information on The Grammar School's Sports Clubs and teams can be found in the drop down menu below. 

We have teams from both the upper and lower classes of the school and offer a variety of disciplines. Our teams take part in various tournaments organized by a variety of organisations such as private schools and the Ministry of Education.

Our athletic clubs aim to promote good sportsmanship and give students a chance to participate in competitions. Students are encouraged to build a sense of team spirit and cooperation, aiding them in the improvement of their skills.

Track and Field – Cross Country
Teacher in charge: Mr N. Xenophontos
Student members participate in various events such as running, jumping, throwing and Cross Country.  Our aim is to teach and prepare students to represent our school in the Track and Field District and Pan Cyprian competitions.
Every year we organize intra-school track and field competitions at the end of February to help our student-athletes prepare psychologically and physically for the District and Pan Cyprian Competitions.  We also hold a Cross Country Race in November and all students can try out for the official race in Nicosia in November and December.

The aim of this Club is to teach, train, and prepare students to join the Boys and Girls lower and upper class teams.  These teams participate in different tournaments organized by the Ministry of Education.  Our school has won the Pan Cyprian Championship several times and represented Cyprus in Pan Hellenic and World School competitions.

Students from lower and upper classes are taught, trained and prepared to participate in different tournaments. The team also take part in the championship organized by the Ministry of Education and also in different tournaments.

Students are trained to represent our school in tournaments organised by the Ministry of Education. Both lower and upper class girls and boys can participate in this club. Our teams have been very successful in the last few years winning 1st or 2nd place in the Pan Cyprian championships.

Lower and upper class boys and girls can join this club and have the opportunity to train and play their favourite game. Friendly games organised after school and during weekends against other schools. Tournaments organised by the Cyprus Football Federation and by the Private Schools.
There are also school futsal tournaments organized during the year for the upper and lower schools. Our teams have been very successful in the last few years winning 1st place in the championships organised by the Cyprus Football Federation.

This club operates during the months of September-October and April-May.  Students have the opportunity to learn various swimming styles and techniques.  Our main target is to form a swimming team and prepare our athletes to compete in different tournaments and competitions. We also organise inter-school swimming competitions with the participation of different school from all over Cyprus.  This Club also accepts students from the Grammar Junior School.
All events are organised at the end of October and May.

The Grammar Fitness Club main goal is to improve the student’s general physical preparedness. They learn how to exercise in good technique and enjoy the benefits of being fit and healthy.
This is done through the use of the ten general physical skills such as cardiovascular, endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy.
The club operates every Monday after school at the G.S P.E fields.

This club operates after Christmas holidays. The club consists of about twenty members, all girls from classes 1-7 who are carefully chosen through auditions. The aim of the club is to provide students with the opportunity to exercise and have fun at the same time through music and dance. The cheerleaders performed during school charity Futsal tournaments, The Gregoria day, The Music Festival and Fun Day.

During this new academic year, our students will have the chance to join The Grammar School Tennis Club that is situated on our school sports premises. Once a week our students will enjoy the opportunity to sharpen their competitive spirit by serving, smashing and playing drop shots against their opposite number.
